The Business & Media Institute heard from a couple of WWII veterans who were not impressed with the new Time cover:
“It’s an absolute disgrace,” Mates said. “Whoever did it is going to hell. That’s a mortal sin. God forbid he runs into a Marine that was an Iwo Jima survivor.”
Mates is an Iwo Jima survivor, and he (and his brothers) had even more to say.
I'll summarize it by noting that the octogenarians obviously took full use of the latitude in expression afforded them by their advanced ages and experience.
Though this case doesn't quite reach the depth of true contempt, I somehow can't see how all of this is not related.
