Anti-patriotism

Former Marine Grim of Grim's Hall has written an essay that serves as a beautiful counterpoint to Chuck's speech that I quoted yesterday.

There are those who love their country, see her flaws, and work doggedly to make her better--the people who know they themselves form the country and the flag that represents her. And then there are people like Natalie Maines.

Grim writes of the latter:

What can we do? Pity them; hope for them to heal. Otherwise, nothing. They are beyond us. Supernatural things are not for men. Perhaps a spirit will heal them. We cannot, any more than we can understand them.
Do read it all. You won't regret it.
