With the cri de coer, "What have I done to this little boy?" Grim writes heartrendingly of the costs of war and absence, as extracted from his young son.
His commenters offer wise counsel to soothe a father's heart. But it also occurs to me that this is another testament to the need of a father's daily presence and involvement in his child's life. Sometimes the world we live in demands sacrifice, but outside of narrow exceptions, fathers are not optional.
