Surely it's more than a cliff,
“Living” halfway up the side.
Climbing and climbing,
But striving isn't enough.

Buffeted by winds and rain,
Equipment inadequate by experience.
No instruction manual,
No successes to build on.

Ledges and caves to the side,
Hollows of rest of comfort,
Mysteries and blessings to be had,
But the key is withheld.

Time on the cliff for all,
For such is the human frame,
But time off the cliff?
Some never see that day.
